Joyce Johnson was born on November 25, 1946 in Los Angeles, California. She was loved and raised by her adoptive parents Le Ferious M. and Cremolia Johnson. It was the decision of her parents to keep in touch with her biological father Webster Pugh should she ever find herself in need of heritage answers later in life. This gave her the opportunity to enjoy the love of both lives. Joyce accepted Christ as her savior as a young child and has made her belief in God the foundation of her life and her home.
Joyce Johnson graduated from Hollywood High school at the age of 17 years old. She married and became Joyce Fairman and went on to raise her family in the Los Angeles area. She made a promise to her mother that she would return to school and get a degree. After divorcing twice, she decided to pursue her desires of attending college while working fulltime for Pacific Bell. Attending both Capella University and California State University at San Bernardino to graduate in 2005 with her Masters Degree in Education. She had a strong belief that “Knowledge is Power” so pursue it diligently. Joyce was an active member of Toast Masters. Her passing has interrupted her studies complete her Doctorate Degree in Education She has been employed as a Supervisor, Manager, Teacher, Independent Contractor and lastly as the CEO for Hearts of Color, Inc.
After experiencing heart problems in 2010, she needed open-heart surgery. She recovered and said that God gave her a mission to make those that were taking their lives for granted, aware of how important obesity and heart disease is. She created the non-profit organization called Hearts of Color, Inc. This mission has been her passion through her own health and financial struggles.
She has traveled from California to New York, collaborating with local community leaders and major medical She has received many awards for her efforts regarding this issue.
Her pursuits never took away from her finding time to spend with her family and friends. Always full of joy, teasing and joking with both young and old. Always willing to share the spotlight. Joyce has always been very committed to her family; being there as Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend. She has been a mentoring “Mom” or “Ms. Joyce” to a host of many adopted “Children-in-Love” and her vibrant smile and loving ways will be greatly missed by all.
She leaves precious memories with her Daughters Shamon Fairman-Campos, Deion Fairman-Luntungan (Audy), Camille Williams, and Amber Adger Fairman, Sons; Perry Best (Cheryl) and Roshard Fairman (Michelle) and Children-of-Love Lamar Fairman & Erica Fairman and Darrin Stone; Grandchildren: Shamon: Charise, Brelon, Bryce & Cyana; Deion: Aijah, Abram & Aaliyah; Camille: Saviahn, Jahna & Quintahn; Perry: Marlon, Pierre (Tabitha) & Khaleea; Roshard: Stephanie, Ian, Joshua & Colin and Five Great-Grandchildren. Brothers: Ronnie Pugh, Ronnie “Lil” Pugh, Webster “Pop” Pugh and Larry and a host of Children-of-Love, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Ms. Joyce was preceded home to glory by her parents Le Ferious & Cremolia Johnson, father Webster Pugh and siblings; Mamie Lloyd, Josephine (Letha) Cruz, Raymond Pugh, Chester Pugh, Carol Lucas, Phyllis Lucas and Suzanne Pugh- LaVow and step-daughter Michelle Earnest-Peterson.
