Joan Elizabeth Merriett was born in Washington D.C. in 6/08/1935 and passed quietly in Riverside Ca. on 03/26/2017. Mrs. Merriett moved to Norton Air Force Base in 1974. She and her late husband, United States Air Force SMSGT. William H. Merriett retired in Highland CA. Joan leaves behind her three children, daughters Charlee C. (Gilberto) Vega, Nobel M. Sergio) Merriett-Keshishi and son William K. (Stephanie) Merriett, her grandchildren Marcus McGhee, Raelyn Goodrum, Kennadie Merriett and Kiara Merriett.
After graduating high school and marrying her airman, Joan began to travel the world with him and together they raised their children. After working for the County of San Bernardino and retiring in the Inland Empire Joan became a beloved grandmother and avid walker. Joan participated in marathons well into her senior years. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, swimming and quilting. She was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church and was a quiet yet highly effective example of what a true believer is.
