He was born on October 5th, 1946 in Enid, Oklahoma to Harold and Hilda Grantz. He graduated from Enid High School in 1964. On August 18th, 1964, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served 8 years during Vietnam and earned the rank of Sergeant. He was honorable discharged on June 30th, 1972. After he got out of the military, he spent the next 44 years working in construction until he retired in 2016. During his years of construction, he worked road construction, built power plants, cement plants and built conveyer belt systems for mines. When he had time, he loved to be outside golfing, hunting, camping, fishing or working with wood in the garage.
He is survived by his wife: Vivian Grantz of Colton, California; their children: Amanda Thorig and husband Jon of Mentone, California, Alex Fuentes and husband Sergio of Colton, California.
His first wife, Patricia Grantz of Farmington, New Mexico, and their children; Danny Grantz of Orlando, Florida, Kenneth Grantz and wife Machelle of Mustang, Oklahoma, Angelia Heath and husband Billy of Farmington, New Mexico, Christy Martin of Seattle, Washington, William Grantz and wife Kelly of Leavenworth, Washington; 24 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his Parents: Harold and Hilda Grantz; Sister: Doris Jones and 1 brother.
Memorial Services for James “Jim” Grants will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 10th, 2020 at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary, Valley View Chapel in Colton, California. Following the service, a burial service will be held at 12:45 pm at Riverside National Cemetery to honor him for his military services.
