Edison Panjaitan was born in Aek Nauli Lumban Jabi Jabi on April 4, 1958 to Opung Doli Sahat Tua Panjaitan and Opung Boru Martianna Siahaan. He was the eldest of 6 siblings, which included 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Edison went to Elementary School at Onantukka School in Indonesia. Eventually, he moved to Jakarta with Opung Panjaitan, completing high school at Sukabumi Seventh-day Adventist School in 1979. One of the highlights during his time there was giving his life to the Lord by getting baptized.
After high school, he attended UNAI college for a few years before courageously immigrating to America by himself in the mid 1980s. Upon arrival, he was welcomed and sponsored by Opung Panjaitan. He worked in the States for several years before eventually meeting the love of his life, Helmida Sitanggang. They married in 1986 and the Lord blessed them with 35 years of marriage and 2 children, Ellis and Ezra.
Edison possessed an unconditional faith for the Lord, love for family, passion for culture, and contagious joy. He is well-known for his story-telling and ability to make others laugh. He made every room he entered a more ecstatic one.
Edison is preceded in death by his father Opung Doli Sahat Tua Panjaitan. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Helmida Boru Sitanggang; his son and daughter-in-law Ezra Panjaitan & Alexandra Boru Hutauruk; his daughter and son-in-law Ellis Boru Panjaitan & Rudy Sianturi; his 94-year-old Opung Boru Martianna Siahaan; and his granddaughter Charlotte Adison Roulina Sianturi whose middle name is given from her grandfather.
