David Chi Fong, 87 of San Bernardino, passed away on Saturday October 29, 2022 in Loma Linda California. He was born on April 4, 1935 to a Chinese Father, Yui Fong, and Cambodian Mother, Them Miech, in Krough Chhmar district, Cambodia. He had three brothers and four sisters. David was the second eldest of eight siblings. In May 1958, he married his long time love, Heng Ly Lu, and together they had five children, three sons and two daughters.
David worked as a clocksmith for more than 20 years, he owned and operated a successful business back in Cambodia, he was well liked amongst his peers, because he would often repair customer's watches and clocks free of charge. He became a devoted Christian in the late 1970s prior to moving his family to America in 1982. David was a resident of Loma Linda from May 1982 to 1995 and a resident of San Bernardino from 1995 to October 29, 2022. He had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the violin and drums, and was a member of a local band in Cambodia. David's other passion was carpentry, he enjoyed rebuilding and refinishing old tables, chairs, and drawers.
David is survived by his wife,Heng, three sons San, Paul, and Voy, two daughters Cindy and Jennifer, eleven grandchildren Jenny, Kevin, Ashley, Christine, Alex, Sydney, Jasmine, Allan, Brian, Albert, and Andrew, and two great grandchildren Kody and Kaden.
A visitation for David will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3520 E Washington St, Colton, CA 92324. A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 3520 E Washington St, Colton, CA 92324. A committal service will occur Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Montecito Memorial Park, 3520 E Washington St, Colton, CA 92324.
