Our father was perfect for our family. A quiet man, yet every word you heard was spoken with honesty and wisdom. He was humorous, loving, warm and truly a man with a huge heart.
His achievements were many, but he was especially proud of and loved each of his children So very unconditionally. Six children born of Dalia Godoy Cruz, preceded him in death April 14, 1972, and two daughters and one step daughter born to second wife, Elisa Costas Cruz preceded in death on October 19th, 2021.
A great achievement of his was his dedication to his employment with RTD Metro(Division 9) in Los Angeles Ca, of 44 years with awards for his safe driving, getting his passengers to and from their destinations safely.
A story he liked to mention was of a kind women who rode his route getting off the bus and giving him a peck on the cheek, thanking him for a safe and memorable ride!
Our father loved music. Especially Spanish Ballads and Jazz and he encouraged us all to listen to different genres. He loved to play the guitar and he played it beautifully and often sang in Spanish. He also played the harmonica, even at 94 years of age.
He loved visiting his 4 daughters who live in Oregon, where he would Deep Sea Fish on the Oregon coast with his cousin Jesse Cruz, or BBQing at local parks with all the grandchildren and family. He also loved watching his grandchildren play catch outside, skateboard and climbing his front yard tree even though he panicked a bit while seeing them on it.
Many friends and relatives stayed in contact over the years who loved and cherished "Mr. Cruz" for not just his handsome looks, but for his genuine charm and soft demeaner. He was often told he resembled Elvis, which he got a kick out of.
We thought our father would live forever. We love you dad. Rest in the Heavens of Eternal Peace. We will always carry you in our Hearts.
