Barbara Moreno Castillo was born the eldest of two children in Anthony, New Mexico on February 29, 1920. She spent her early youth there with her mother Cruz Moreno, brother Joe Torres and her step-father Gaspar Torres. Sometime in the mid-1930s, she and her family made their way to California to find work in the Coachella Valley tending the fields. There, working in those fields she met Patricio Castillo. And in Yuma, Arizona 1940 they got married. They settled and started a family in Indio, California. After the loss of her daughter, husband, and oldest son, she moved to San Bernardino, California with her two youngest sons Paul & Gilbert. Barbara worked hard and provided for her sons.Received her GED diploma and eventually retired from the food industry in 1977. She was a charming, friendly person and enjoyed spending time and spreading laughs with friends and family. Barbara passed away on June 14th, 2019 in Grand Terrace, California. She is preceded in death by Patricio Castillo Sr, Patricio Castillo Jr., Joe Torres, Baby Castillo and her longtime companion Richard Almaraz. She is survived by her sons Paul and Gilbert; daughters in-law Sylvia & Susie; Grandchildren, Paul Jr and his wife Michelle Castillo, Crystal and her husband Guillermo Penunuri, Christopher, and Dominic and his wife Michelle Castillo; Great grandchildren Andrew, Ethan, Luna and Ben. A funeral service will be held at Montecito Memorial Park & Mortuary 3520 E. Washington St, Colton, CA 92324 June 25th at 1:00 PM.
