Albert A. Flores Sr. (BDA), departed this life on Monday December 4th at the Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center after his long battle with liver disease. Through his battle he remained positive, never showed his pain, and always said he was very thankful for life. Although he has left earth he was not defeated by his illness, instead he overcame every obstacle put in his path. Numerous physicians were shocked that he surpassed their prognosis of life expectancy.
Al leaves his wife of 35 years, Denise Flores; his daughters Amber Flores and Amanda Flores; his son Albert Flores Jr (Pops); and extended families, friends, colleagues.
Born and raised in Los Angeles as the son of Daniel Flores and Gloria Vallejo. He was their second child and his siblings are as follows Daniel Flores Jr, Barbara Flores, Yvette Flores and Sonia Flores.
In his early years he managed to begin working as a young adolescent to start supporting himself. Throughout this time he worked various odd jobs in his local community to survive.
From 1987 to 2001 Al worked in Hazardous Waste Removal and Asbestos/ Lead / Mold Abatement; Interior demolition on high rise buildings, Demolition of Houses/Buildings/Refineries, and as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Throughout his years he served as a Worker, Supervisor, and Project Manager Estimator. From 2002 through 2011 he was a Demolition Contractor for his own business RAD Demolition that he started.
In 2011 his illness worsened which led to his inability to work. However his community service increased. Upon being placed on the Liver Transplant list he began to attend a Liver Life Walk in Santa Monica, CA to help raise money for the cure.
Al was also promoted to be a district zone chairman for his community service organization, Rialto Host Lions Club, Inc. He started as Lion Tamer in June 1992. Over the years he continued on to serve as a Secretary, Director, Vice President and President. Then sat on the Board of Directors for the Lions Club for many years. In addition he served as Chairperson for the Fireworks Fund Raiser, Chairman for Downtown Halloween candy give away and Chairman for the Christmas Baskets Program. He even walked in the Christmas parades for the City of Rialto.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday December 18, 2017 at St John XXIII Parish followed by a burial in Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery.
