Randy was born in Houston, TX, in 1962. He grew up in Denver, CO.
Randy worked at Lockheed Martin for 30 years. His work included graphic design, audiovisual engineering, and photography. He retired in 2018, which allowed him to devote more time to his own creative pursuits.
He was wildly talented, an artistic polymath, always to be found creating something new, be it a photography project, an Edison-style lamp, a goofy advertisement for a new guitar gizmo, or sometimes even quilts. Many of his projects ended up as gifts for his family.
On November 27th, 1993, he married his best friend and closest confidant, Kathy. Randy and Kathy loved each other deeply, and built a relationship easily described as "complimentary", the sum of more than its parts.
Randy leaves behind a legacy of creativity, kindness, and his unique brand of wit and humor, which he so easily shared with everyone he met. He was the essence of everything that matters in life, and he is deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Doug Hartman, and his mother, Janet Baass Parks. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Parks; his son, Casey Parks-García; Casey’s wife, Kylee Parks-García; his son, Garrett Dawson; Garrett’s wife, Liz Dawson; his son, Nicholas Dawson; Nicholas’s daughter, Saoirse Sheehan; his father, James Parks; his sister, Gillian Hartman; Gilly’s spouse, Kevin Widlic; his younger sister, Polly Parks, and his nieces, Tessa Sutton and Carly Austin.
