Wayne Kruger, 48, of Colorado Springs, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born July 24, 1962, in Princeton, New Jersey, to Leo and Anne (Longsworth) Kruger. In 1980, he graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy.
In 1991, he moved to Colorado, and on August 1, 1998, he married Katie Serger in Colorado Springs. He was a long-time employee of MCI/Verizon and was currently employed at Colorado College as a computer programmer. From 1997-2009, he lived in Castle Rock where he enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. In 2010, he became a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs.
He was very dedicated to his children, Laurel and Charlie, who will miss their daddy’s lullabies, piano playing, and sense of humor. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his parents; three sisters: Lynn Kruger (Mark LaPorte) of Cocoa Beach, Florida; Nancy Kruger of Asbury, New Jersey; Mary Kruger (Roldan Leyba) of Darmstadt, Germany; and many friends and relatives who will miss his kindness, dimples, hearty laugh, and smile.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 26, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2505 N. Circle Dr., Colorado Springs, at 10:00 a.m. with a viewing at 9:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church or Douglas Land Conservancy.
