She graduated from Wichita Southeast High in 1959 and retired as an Aircraft Avionics Technician from Beechcraft and Cessna in 2005. She loved to travel and had been to all 50 states and 18 countries. She had lots of pets throughout her years including her beloved Blackjack, a small mixed dog that she brought with her to Colorado. She was a Pittsburg Steelers fan and enjoyed watching football. She loved to play poker in her later years while living in MorningStar Memory Care.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Air Force Veteran James Matthews. She is survived by her daughter Maria (Jason) Jackson, grandchildren Jacob (Celine), Jarett, and Luna. Her siblings Sheila Davis-Nickel and Alex (Jeanne) McLaren. Niece Debbie (Staci) Davis-Steddum, nephews Shawn (Penny) Davis, Clint (Kendra) McLaren and Scott (Katie) McLaren.
