Our precious son and brother, Todd Allen Godby, was taken from this world at the age of 20 on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. He was a person who devoted his life to aiding others, always attentive to their needs and willing to go the extra mile to lend a helping hand. Todd is survived by his parents, Charles & Carida Godby, and Sarita & Mike Sandor, his sisters Stacey Ward and Michaela Ritchey, and his brother Elijah Wannemacher. He also leaves behind a vast circle of friends and family members. Todd was well on his way to becoming an elite electrician in the Colorado Springs area, working alongside his close-knit team at Harris Electric.
Todd graduated from Robert M. Shoemaker High School in Killeen, Texas in 2021. Attempting to pinpoint a single source of enjoyment in his life would do injustice to his adventurous and exploratory spirit. He had an insatiable curiosity and a desire to experience everything life had to offer. While he had a fondness for football, which was highlighted by winning a championship with the local football league, his true passion lay in basketball, where he fearlessly took on all challengers on the court. Yet, even basketball occasionally took a backseat to his love for that fresh powder of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Todd had a deep affection for the outdoors and was an excellent snowboarder. Nothing could deter him from his journeys to those higher altitudes.
There will be two services to accommodate all those who held Todd dear. In Colorado Springs, Colorado, at Mountain View Mortuary, a service will be held at Church at Briargate on October 30, 2023, at 6:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend, with a public viewing from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. In Hinesville, Georgia, through Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home, a service will be held on November 4, 2023, at 4:00 pm. All are invited to attend.
In honor of Todd, flowers and donations are welcome. A scholarship fund will be established to continue Todd's legacy of selflessness in the days to come. This scholarship will support those who aspire to become electricians and strive to be a better version of themselves, just as Todd did.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MtViewMortuary.com for the Godby family.
