Tim was born on March 22, 1947 to Melville and Glenna Nelson in Flint, Michigan. At the age of 9, his family moved next door to the Wisner Family Dairy Farm in Lowell, Michigan. He started working on the farm where he met his future wife, Lois Wisner. Tim and Lois married on June 21, 1968. They went on to have 2 children, Lori and Steve.
After Tim graduated from Lowell High School in 1965, he attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma. At 6’8”, he was awarded a full-ride scholarship to play basketball for the Aggies. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a teaching certificate in 1969.
After graduating, he began his decades-long teaching career in the business department at Constantine High School in Constantine, Michigan. Throughout his time in teaching, he was also an attendance supervisor, an assistant principal, and a basketball coach. Tim was also a driver’s education instructor for 28 years. In 2003, he retired from the field of education after 32 years of dedicated service to his community. Not one to sit idly by, Tim delivered motorhomes for Coachman for the next 5 years. He also kept busy as a Council Trustee for the Village of Constantine for over 15 years as well as being an active member of Three Rivers Bible Church.
In 2010, Tim and Lois moved to Peyton, Colorado to be closer to their children and grandchildren. While here, he was able to continue one of his favorite pastimes; cutting wood. He worked at the McNeil Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley and the nearby Olkjer ranch doing fire mitigation for 8 years.
Tim enjoyed camping, hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He was known by his kids and grandkids as a social butterfly as he would often strike up a conversation with anyone, anytime, and about anything.
Tim’s relationship with Jesus Christ was an important part of his everyday life. He had a servant’s heart and was willing to help anyone. After moving to Colorado, he was an active member at Falcon Baptist Church. Even after his Alzheimer’s diagnosis in 2019, he continued to faithfully serve by singing in the choir and helping with the AWANA program.
Tim was welcomed into his eternal home by his Heavenly Father, Melville and Glenna Nelson (parents), Jon and Cyndy Nelson (brother and sister-in-law), Phil and Kay Nelson (brother and sister-in-law), and Brian Morris (son-in-law). He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lois, Lori Morris (daughter), Steve and Natalie Nelson (son and daughter-in-law), and his grandchildren Emilee Morris, Mackenzie Nelson, and Colton Nelson. He will be greatly missed by not only his family but his friends as well.
