Tom, you were a bright imaginative little boy.  When I cared for you and Laura I never had to entertain you.  You entertained me, you made up all sorts of stories, you were a detective, a doctor, a magician.  And you loved Batman so much you even slept in your Batman outfit.  You were such a wonderful playmate.
Just a few weeks ago when you were here painting for us, you recalled how I had taken you to see Santa at the mall.  When it was your turn with Santa you made even him know you had back up – you yelled out Santa, here’s Grandma.

For too few years, we were given the gift of Tom's presence.  His wit, his creativity, his sensitivity come through in his writing and music.  His laughter and love of the outdoors were infectious.  His love for his family overflowed in all that he did with us.

Tom was brave, and kind.  He looked out for his sister and his cousins with greater generosity and devotion than I ever expected in such a young boy and maintained that right on through to his adulthood.  He had such humor, and so much passion.  For me, Tom will always be that observant little fellow who wanted to sit in his Daddy's car when the family gatherings started to get too wild.  Tom will always be that sensitive teen who was overjoyed to take on an un-played guitar I had foolishly bought years before, who followed up by making something of it.  He will be the young man who couldn't resist dancing at his sister's wedding.

We love you Tom, and we will miss you.

Message from Tom on one of his numerous hikes. He loved the wild outdoors of the southwest. 

I will always remember Tom's laugh and is enjoyment of the outdoors.  He was talented in finding the beauty of nature.  It was always encouraging that he could find peace in the mountains when so many could not.  During our hike up Mt. Shavano he was the life of the party, able to run circles around us as we hiked up a 14er and excited to try a mountain he had yet to be on.  I would later adopt that excitement in my own adventures.   He was always home in the mountains and loved Colorado.  He helped me feel not so isolated in get-to-others with his family.  Tom and I had a similar sense of humor and I will truly miss him, his love of coffee and his laugh.  

Tom Evans was one of my oldest friends. When I was young, if I wasn’t at home I was probably spying with Tom, solving neighborhood crimes in trench coats, cranking our guitar amps to the max, or just talking about life. I owe so many of my great childhood adventures to him. He will be in my thoughts and prayers, and I am sad to know that he is gone. May you be playing music over us in heaven Tom. 

Tom and I were friends through our love of music.  We spent many countless hours talking of music, creating music, and bringing our music to those around us.  We shared many laughs together and I will miss Tom's quirky sense of humor.  I'm saddened at the loss of my friend and I wish to share my condolences with the Evans family.   Rest in peace my friend, you will be dearly missed.

Tom always looked out for me. He made sure I was doing alright from the begining. Tom introduced me to so much of what I love now. When he found out I had a radio, he gave me a handful of cassette tapes he made with music he knew I would love. We didn't have video games, but when he got a new Gameboy he took me aside at a family gathering and gave me his older Gameboy, and then years later again with Zelda. Tom introduced me to snowboarding, we drove hours out in his truck in the snow. One of the best days of my life.  He always shared, and he always looked out.  When Tom was happy it was electric, and felt amazing because it was impossible not to share it.

The last time I saw him I was proud to introduce him to my wife, we talked about his truck briefly, had some coffee, and made tentative plans to go fly a drone or atleast catch up another way. Ive thought alot about how i didn't reach out or see him again, I always assumed we would. It's still so hard to imagine that we can't. 

I really loved Tom, he was the best of our families men, and the coolest person I ever knew. I always looked up to him. I miss him terribly.

Tom and I made music together.  I remember meeting him the first time and we immediately bonded over music.  We started to get together in my garage and jam.  Nearly every Tuesday evening Tom would come by and we would have fun and make noise.  We wrote some songs but never did much with them.  We didn't have a goal in mind, we were just having fun getting to know each other as musicians.  My daughter was probably 7 years old at the time and she would have to fall asleep in our bed because her room was right next to the garage, and it got pretty noisy.  She never complained (neither did my wife) and never seemed to mind the noise.  I asked her about this recently and she remembers it fondly and I think she actually enjoyed it.  This went on for at least a couple of years.  Eventually we found some other musicians and we started a band. We made music, played it in front of others and even recorded an album.  But through it all we always talked about the good old days of just jamming in my garage for the fun of it.  That's what I will miss the most.  You will be missed Tom. 

I have lots of other memories.  Camping (we even took my kids camping once), hiking, skiing, conversations and lots and lots of concerts.
