Terry Lynn Bustos Sr. (64) of Colorado Springs last seen on Nov 3, 2017 headed for the Pearly Gates while doing one legged high kicks and humming “Drop Kick Me Jesus Through the Goal Post of Life”. He had a date to go fishing with his Dad, Jasper (Red) Bustos, and together both were hoping to meet up with JC to get some tips on fishing in the middle of the lake without a boat.
Terry passed after a long illness, and was looking forward to meeting up with parents and family members, in the hereafter. His mother; Margaret Beulah Maire can be found browsing the heavenly swap meet at the corner of Hallelujah and Amen.
Terry was great at catching wives named Melissa, but subscribed to a release policy, and while he died minus a current domestic partner, he did father a total of 4 children. Daughter Michelle Bustos caught herself a Lee and resides in the UK and daughter Melanie Selvage hooked her Lee and lives in Aurora; CO. Daughter Keeley is baiting the hook in Seattle, WA. The one boy in field of flowers, son Terry Jr. lives in Colorado Springs. There are 3 grandkids, Lillie, Emalin and Quinn; however none are big enough to hold a fishing pole.
Born in Durango, he joined the Army thinking he was avoiding the draft, but much to his surprise they kept him for 22 years. Upon retirement he adopted his mountain man persona; stopped cutting his hair and set the world of fashion on its ear with his signature plaid jacket, polo shirt and blue jeans.
Terry left a Love Boat full of siblings in his wake; Rod Bustos, Cheryl Spencer, Tom Tanner, Terry Tanner, Lewis Bustos, Tony Bustos, Donna Cordova and Sheila Reynolds all of Colorado.
When not fishing, Terry liked to golf, sing Karaoke, watch Animal Planet, and was the resident philosopher/poet down at the Detour Lounge and had an enviable collection of “things” that might be worth something someday.
Terry leaves a hole with his passing that is not easily filled. Master Sergeant Bustos, we salute you and thank you for your service.
