Today marks 2 years since i lost my one and only grandson and im still broken. Cannot repair the void left behind. I miss him everyday and think about him constantly. I still look at his photos and think that he is still here and all i have to do is call him. I love my grandson in such a big way that the damage left behind on my weathered heart is so painful. I love you always …. Until we meet again my beautiful grandson.

I knew tate in middle school and high school and he is by far one of the nicest most loving funny and caring men i have ever met in my life. i feel an honor to have been able to know him and watch him grow up and experience all he did in life. I grieve for your family and I hope nothing but peace and comfort on your hearts knowing he’s watching and living through all of us.

I’ve visited this page on many occasions over the past few weeks, but it has taken me some time to try to find the right words. The truth is there are just no words that seem fitting for the loss you’re going through so I’ll speak from my heart in saying I’m so deeply heartbroken for your family. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Tate, clearly he was a beautiful soul who touched the lives of so many. May he rest in peace and live on in your hearts forever. Our beautiful boy. I see him going up and down the stairs, practicing his basketball shot regardless of weather,  eating while watching a  sport video, laughing with family and friends, helping others before himself or being pensive.  He is a beacon of light and will be immensely missed. There is another star in the universe and an angel in heaven. You will live in our hearts and memory. I love you Tate.

We met Tate a few times at our weekly bowling get together with Tina, JC and friends.  He was a friendly, smiling, exuberant young man.  We know that Tina and JC were very proud of all that he had accomplished in such a short time.  We were kept up to date with his life's journey through the many photos and stories that Tina and JC shared with us.  We know that Tate's passing will leave a void in your hearts that can never be filled.  But we know that your love and caring for each other will help you get through these coming days.   We want to express our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the entire family.  May God be with you and bless you.

My memory of Tate was as a toddler. One Christmas at my Grandma’s house where he spent most of it with me following me and wanting to spend time with me. Such a sweet little boy who stole my heart that Christmas. He grew to be a great young man and I will miss him deeply.

Tate was my guy when I was a teenager. He was just a kid that wanted to follow me around and learn how to skateboard. He’d see me riding around and start jumping and spinning off of curbs in front of the house. Tate was the only reason I’d bring my skateboard to holidays at my Tia’s, I knew he wanted to play around with it always. I will always remember him calling me mijo with that same goofy smile he always had. 

His passing hurts and I pray that we all find a way to heal. Tate will always have a special place in my heart and memories. Candice, Terry, Chloe, everyone I share in the grief and I’m here for anything. Love you guys.

My heart breaks for you. My daughter, Isabelle “Izzy” Reginek, was the basketball team manager for many years when Tate played. I met Tate and Jordan at the basketball banquet this spring, and took their pictures with Izzy. My first thought about Tate was how handsome and friendly he was, a son no doubt you were so proud of. Life can be so painful sometimes, almost unbearable. Every memory, every picture, everything “Tate” will become a treasure to you. Your memories of Tate will be your blessing for always. My deepest sympathy to your family. 


I was so lucky to have Tate as my one and only Grandson. I love him today and always with all of my heart. I will miss all the moments we had talking about his sports girls and shoe shopping. Unfortunately, he inherited my passion for shoes and i made sure i did everything i could that he got those extra special sneakers. I am heartbroken and devastated but he will live in my heart until i see him again.  I love you Tate.  

My favorite memory of Tate was 2016 when Charlotte, David and I spent Christmas with all of you in Colorado. Tate was all over the house on his hoverboard and having such fun! Then we all played that crazy game and laughed hysterically. It’s a memory I will never forget and as long as we keep memories like that in our hearts , Tate will live on!

My sweetest memory of Tate was his noble nature. Once while at their home in San Antonio, my son AJ was outside teaching Tate how to skateboard, but it was time for us to go home and I called out to my son (AJ) "Mijo it's time to go!" and Tate in the sweetest voice called out to him as well and yelled "MIJO! Your mom is calling you!" It was so sweet and cute and that is the memory I will treasure and this is the image of Tate that I will dream of.

Your family welcomed me in before you even knew me. I will never forget that. I loved Tate. I have such great memories of playing soccer and basketball with him and goofing around at dinner :). He was such a joy to be around, especially during a difficult time. These pictures are a great snapshot of his kindness and goofiness all at once. I am heartbroken over his passing but he will always hold a special place in my heart and memory.

Labor Day cookout- Kylie ADORES “Mr Tate”. He was so patient with both of our children and took time out to play with them. As I shared with Tate’s mom, he had such an impact on everyone, but continues to have an impact on my daughters lives in very specific ways, that can only bring a smile to your face. 

The best memory! I asked Tate to take a picture of our group at a Labor Day cookout with our neighbors, and little did I know, he flipped the camera around and took a silly selfie. I didn’t find it until later, and it just made me laugh :) I remember him opening his graduation present from us, warning him that it was something he NEEDED, not necessarily something he WANTED, and he just smiled and said “okay okay, alright” Such a great kid with a big heart, and amazing parents that we’ve learned so much from.

I got to know Tate when I worked as an SSN para at Explorer Elementary.   He was an amazing peer to the students I worked with in the SSN department!
We ended up with a personal connection when we discovered my nephew (Trey B.) was one of his best friends.  Recently, I was fortunate enough to spend some time with him this summer at Trey's graduation and another family event. He greeted me with a big hug like no time had passed!  You will be sorely missed, Tate.

Tate was my TA (teacher assistant) last semester for my Racquet sports class along with his buddies Jordan and CJ. They were so fun and entertaining to have in class.
 I got to watch Tate play football, soccer (Chaz and I talked about him a lot as an amazing athlete), and basketball. What an athlete! I’m jealous that he’s able to talk soccer and be around Chaz but thankful they have each other now.
He was a very kind young man and I will miss his smile, his ability to light up a room when he walked in and his “yes ma’am” (I’ll get to it when I get to it 🤣)  responses.

Dear Byrum Family, 
I considered it such a blessing to have a student like Tate. He was in my third grade class and what an absolute joy to be his teacher. Tate was such  a positive, caring, smart and cute kiddo. He had a magnetic personality yet was so kind and humble too. I had three students with special needs that year and Tate almost always spent his recesses making sure they were included in everything - from pushing a wheelchair at max velocity to helping a mostly non-verbal kiddo actually talk or playing tether ball with a little girl that didn’t understand the rules at all. I never asked him to do any of this, he just did this because he wanted to be a friend to everyone. Tate was always so polite and respectful to me. He really wanted to learn and achieve his full potential. Tate made every day better for his classmates and his teacher. I got to be his art teacher for two years as well and wasn’t I lucky. Tate made me smile & laugh. Our world will be a little less bright without him but I am certain he is still making a difference. Love to all of you. Hugs to my Art Star, Chloe. Dear Terry, Candace and Chloe,
Words can't express how sadden we were to hear the news of Tate's passing.  While I haven't met Tate I have watched him grow up through pictures throughout the years.  

I know that Tate filled everyone's heart with joy you could see it through the pictures.  He definitely was a Terry re-incarnation just by his hair.  Knowing what tree he grew up from there is no doubt in my mind and heart that you all raised a wonderful man, Candace and Terry.  Chloe having grown up with two sisters I am sure there are times that you probably wanted to strangle your brother.  As much as siblings argue at times it's only because they love you.  

While Tate's physical being is not on this earth his presence will always be with all of you.  He is listening and watching over you. That is not much comfort because of the hurt you have, it hurts because you loved with your whole heart that is how life should be.
