Susan Elizabeth Frederick Pauly passed away in Memorial Hospital, Colorado Springs, the evening of April 12, 2024. Susan was born on March 5,1941 in the Old Lying Inn Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Charlotte Wallace Frederick and Merle Milroy Frederick of BalaCynwyd, Pennsylvania. In 1949, the family moved to Ridgewood, New Jersey, where she attended Ridgewood schools, graduating from Ridgewood High School in 1959, after which she pursued Medical Art at Michigan State University. Throughout her young life, she spent many enjoyable summers with family and friends at Klinger Lake, Sturgis, Michigan.
In 1968 she met the love of her life, Melvin J. Pauly, and in 1969 the couple were married in Golden, Colorado. The Pauly’s subsequently moved to Colorado Springs and raised two sons, Robert Wallace Pauly and David Emerson Pauly. In 1984 after Mel passed away, Susan returned to school at Pikes Peak Community College, pursuing a Bachelors of Nursing degree and her Registered Nursing license. During her career as a Registered Nurse, she lovingly cared for patients at several nursing facilities, including Life Care, Liberty Heights, and the Union Printers Home in Colorado Springs. She also volunteered her time at Pikes Peak Hospice. She retired from Union Printers Home at age 75.
Susan was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her brother-in-law Robert Halterman, and leaves to mourn her two sons and their wives, Robert W. Pauly (USCG, CPO-Ret.) and Laura Lee Pauly of Grafton, WV, and David E. Pauly and Andrea McDowell Pauly and their children Lauren Elizabeth Pauly and Addison Lynn Pauly, of Colorado Springs, CO, her sister Marianne Frederick Halterman of Broadway, Virginia, and many extended family members and friends.
There will be no formal funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who wish to, make a donation to the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation in Susan’s memory.
