Shirley Margaret Weddle (nee Farris), age 88, wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend to all, went to her heavenly home on September 21, 2018 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was a true Colorado native and was born February 24, 1930 in Denver, CO to Marion and Myrtle Farris. She married Stan Weddle, her true love and best friend on June 5, 1970, who preceded her in death in 1997.
Shirley loved to dance and often talked about her days dancing and teaching dance with fondness and a smile. She loved wearing the beautiful costumes and she could twirl a baton like a pro well into her 60’s. She worked at the Clifton Division of Litton Industries and in 1969 she received a certificate for outstanding and dedicated service for working on parts that were used in the Apollo 11 moon flight. She was a crafter and loved to crochet, sew, and glue or paint anything she could get her hands on. Every year she would make unique Christmas ornaments for family members with the person’s name and year on it. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she always made her special chili, fudge and lemon bars. She loved her puzzles and chocolates and had the gift of gab. She could, and would, talk for hours and tell stories of her time growing up and what fun she always had with her mother and sister. She had a wicked sense of humor and always had a smile ready. She would often say you need to be the best you can be and she was a true example of these words.
Shirley was blessed with a loving family. She is survived by her children Gary and wife Sheryl Zahorsky, Linda Zahorsky, and her step-children Julieann Skiver and husband David, Joe Magnuson and wife Bonnie, and Kay Magnuson. Her grandchildren, who loved her more than words can express, Brandy Aceves, Shanna Magnuson, and Joseph and Nathanael Skiver. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Merilyn, and her husband Stan of whom she was married to for 27 wonderful years. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at home with her Savior.
