Sandra (Williams) Anderson was born in Ashmore, Illinois, February 23, 1934. In September 1954, she married Jackie Lee Anderson who enlisted in the United States Air Force. They had three children together; Patricia, David, and Daniel and were married for just over 67 years. The young couple’s first overseas assignment was to Wheelus Air Base, Tripoli, Libya. Being an Air Force family the next twenty-six years, the family lived in multiple locations to include James Connally AFB and Lackland AFB, Texas, Mather AFB, California, Atlanta Georgia, Clark Air Base, Philippines, and the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado.
Upon their move to Colorado in 1971, Sandra was employed by Colorado Springs school district 11 and worked at Russell Junior High School for nearly twenty years. Her work included administration and counseling of students. After their last military tour at the Air Force Academy was complete, Sandra and Jack welcomed retirement and split their seasons between Colorado and Arizona. Sandra was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Eisenhower Women’s Golf Association and member of the women’s golf league in Peoria Arizona.
Sandra attended High School in Casey, Illinois where she excelled in studies, cheerleading, and dance. Early on, she also worked at Maud’s, the local soda fountain in Casey where she served her favorite customer, Jack, his favorite, extra thick, chocolate shake. Sandra and Jack were married soon after their high school graduation.
Sandra was completely immersed in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives while they were growing up supporting them in activities such as music, sports and scouting. One of her favorite things to do was to share an evening meal with friends and family and learning about all aspects of their lives. Sandra was committed to her church in both Peoria, AZ and the Community Center Chapel on the Air Force Academy where she worshipped and praised our Lord Jesus.
