Ruby Emma Schneider, much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on September 21, 2018, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Osborne, Kansas, on November 9, 1927, the third of seven children born to the late Martin and Dorothea Schneider.
Ruby graduated from Nampa Senior High School in Nampa, Idaho and after an early career as home-maker and full-time mother she earned an Associates Degree in Medical Records Technology. She spent many years in the medical records field in Denver and Colorado Springs, ultimately retiring from Union Printers Home in Colorado Springs. Through her association with the Medical Records Association she was able to travel to Europe and Canada as well as throughout the US.
After retirement Ruby devoted time to lifelong passions in child care and art. She developed and nurtured relationships with several families by providing part-time child care, becoming an additional “grandma” to a number of children.
Ruby began studying art in the late 1950’s and throughout her life she continued to study and grow as an artist. She studied and practiced multiple art forms including oil, acrylic and water color painting, sculpture and print making. She exhibited in several galleries throughout Colorado and won numerous awards over the years.
During her retirement years, Ruby designed and built her dream home on 37 acres in the mountains near Westcliffe, Colorado, where she spent twelve of the happiest years of her life.
Ruby leaves behind daughter Becki, three grandchildren, Kathy, Lori and Jennifer, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, as well as four brothers and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She is predeceased by a son, Jeff, and two sisters.
A memorial service will take place Monday, October 1, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs.
