

Ruby Jane Linney Pratt was born to the late Osborne and Maltie Linney on April 28, 1931 in Hiddenite, North Carolina. She was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church in Hiddenite. Pastor Calvin Rowe extended the offer of salvation to Ruby and she accepted Christ at the age of 13. She graduated from Happy Plains High School on June 1, 1949. Ruby continued her education with Woods Morgan Beauty and Barber College and became a licensed cosmetologist. Ruby met James Pratt, Jr. in Charlotte, North Carolina and they were married on March 21, 1959.
Ruby lived in North Carolina, Washington DC, Fort Richardson, Alaska, and Fort Knox, Kentucky before settling in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She loved to travel. Ruby worked and retired from Fort Carson AAFES (Army, Air Force, Exchange Service.)
Ruby was a long time member of Friendship Baptist church of Colorado Springs and a member of the Mission choir and Sunday school. She and her husband coordinated a Pastor’s anniversary in 2007.
She was pre-deceased by siblings Lois Alexander, Lessie Miller, Clemont Linney, Faye Pemberton, Fred Linney,and Jimmie Linney. She is survived by her husband James Pratt, Jr.,of Colorado Springs, children Jacqueline K. King of Colorado Springs, Pamela I. Trent (Stanley) of Nashville, Tennessee, and Reginald Pratt of Colorado Springs; grandchildren Jerome Pratt of Colorado Springs, Renaldo Jenkins of Colorado Springs, Monique King of Orlando, Florida and Micheal King of Colorado Springs; great-grandchildren Saniyah King of Colorado Springs, Jazzmine’Rain Pratt of Colorado Springs, Micheal King, Jr. of Dallas, Texas; sisters Gladys Campbell of Statesville, North Carolina, Purney Gray of Statesville, North Carolina, Mildred Linney of Hiddenite, North Carolina and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30th at Friendship Baptist Church, 633 E Dale Street. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
