Texas to the late Johnny and Erma Dickerson on January 27, 1920. She dedicated her life to
serving God, the church and her family. In 1940, Rosa Lee married the late Elmer T. Flores and
from this 54-year union, came three children Richard (Ricky), Marsha and Ronald (Ronnie).
Known to many as Granny Rose, she professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was a
devoted woman of God. She was the oldest living member of St. John's Baptist Church where
she faithfully served the community in the Missionary Department and was appointed as the
secretary for the Circle Number One Missionary Group. In 1991, she was recognized as an
Honorary Mother of the church.
Rosa Lee was not only a devoted homemaker she also helped to support her family by holding
positions within the American Furniture Company, Mountain Bell Telephone Company and as
the Director for Hillside Community Center.
To know her was to love her and be in her light. She was personable, humorous, and
compassionate. Being the virtuous woman she was, enabled her to be trusted by many. Her
calm demeanor and the ability not to judge or bear false witness were some of the attributes of
her “sweet spirit”.
“Granny Rose” leaves to cherish her memories three children; Richard (Caro-Lee) Flores,
Marsha Flores and Ronald Flores. Eight grandchildren; Matthew Johnson, Sherri Petersen, Terri
Flores-Payne (Terry), Stacey Butts (Derrick), Tina Flores, Sheila Garland, Darlene Petersen,
Delano Flores (Shontavia) and Karis Pruitt. Eleven great-grandchildren; Alyce Butts, DeMarcus
Flores, DeAndrea Flores, Derrick Butts Jr., Terika Payne, Terin Payne, Danielle Butts, Marcus
Garland, Jordan Petersen, Daniel Johnson, LaCola Johnson and two great-great grandchildren;
Jeremiah Butts, LaRoyce Johnson.
