Ronald was born on October 29, 1932 in St. Louis, MO to Edward and Audra (nee Burton) Johnson. He was the oldest of 2 children. His younger brother, Harold (Susan) Johnson preceded him in death on October 3, 2017. In addition to growing up in St. Louis, Ronald spent several childhood years living in Doe Run, MO.
Ronald attended and graduated from Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School in 1951. He later pursued higher education at Harris Stowe College.
From there, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, serving a 3-year term, in part during the Korean War. This assisted Ronald in getting his position as a letter carrier with the US Postal Service. He was a dedicated member until retiring in 1995.
Ronald met his first wife, Nora (Smith), while boarding with mutual family friends, Lemmon and Edith Davis. They married February 22, 1958. They welcomed three daughters, Lynne, Janis, and Jacqueline. Ronald and Nora would later divorce in 1979. Ronald remarried in December 1982 to Beverly Travis, and they welcomed a daughter, Veronica. They later divorced in 2000.
Ronald is survived by his daughters, Lynne Obrycki (Steve Kohl) of Salt Lake City, UT, Janis (Ronald) Bickers of Colorado Springs, CO, Jacqueline Johnson of Farmington, MO, and Veronica (Marco) Johnson-Cardenas of Riverside, CA. He is also survived by grandchildren Nathaniel (Cassandra) Johnson, Todd (Karina) Williams, and Mylynn, Zerayah, Jaylynn, Dayzia, Everly, and Bellalisa Johnson. Additionally, Ronald leaves behind great grandchildren Hatleigh and Brixton Johnson. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews, and his sister-in-law.
Ronald's passion for fitness, particularly boxing, filled some of his leisure time. He was a devoted family man and spent much time with family in the way of vacation travels, camping, Cardinal baseball games, family gatherings, parks, and various recreational attractions. He was a man of strong faith, worshipping at South County Bible Church.

A Visitation for Ronald will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Chapel of Memories, 829 South Hancock Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
A Committal Service with Military Honors will follow from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80925.
