Roderick “Rod” William Goodall of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2023, at home with loved ones. He was a retired officer of the Colorado Springs Police Department, known for his work at the Training Academy. Additionally, he was an instructor at Pikes Peak Community College’s law enforcement program for several years and he started the Pikes Peak Fencing League, running it for over 40 years.
Rod was the only child of William and Myrtle Goodall. He was born October 20, 1946, in Colorado Springs, CO, where he continued to live throughout his life, saying “there was no place he liked better.” In 2002, he married his love and partner of more than 30 years, Teri Goodall, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving daughter, Christina Goodall, and extended family members.
During his life, Rod was a championship fencer, a top race car driver, a nationally ranked competitive shooter, a daily hiker, a naturally gifted instructor, a caring husband, a beloved father, and a trusted friend. Quick with a witticism or quote about life, his unique mix of wisdom and humor were valued by those who knew him best. He will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind.
