It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Robert Donald Schuman on May 5, 2023, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of 37. Robert was born on August 24, 1985, in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Colorado State University, St. Cloud State University, and the Art Institute of Colorado. He worked primarily in the service industry and in banking. He lived in many places throughout his lifetime, including Colorado, Texas, Utah, Minnesota, RAF Mildenhall in the United Kingdom, and Yokota Air Base in Tokyo, Japan, ultimately living with and near his family in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
His passion was the game of hockey, having played as a child in Japan on a Japanese Youth team, in Colorado Springs, and in Texas. He was an avid fan of the Colorado Avalanche and attended many games in Denver, as well as games in Sweden and Las Vegas, Nevada. He also loved attending musical events at many venues in Denver and throughout the Country.
Robert was a kind and caring person who always put the needs of others before his own. He had an amazing sense of humor that kept everyone laughing. He also had a special talent for remembering dates. He never failed to make his family and friends feel loved and appreciated. He also had a soft spot for dogs, especially Kirby and Obi.
Robert will be dearly missed by his parents, Kurt and Deborah Schuman, his sisters Amy (Joel) Miller, Beth (Ryan) Johnson, Laura (Robb) Murphy, Grandfather Donald Bakken, nephews Eli Murphy, Mason Murphy, Noah Miller, and nieces Lexi Murphy, Layla Johnson, and Alivia Miller, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
A family funeral Mass was held at the United States Air Force Academy Community Center Chapel, followed by his inurnment in the Columbarium at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Colorado Springs.
