Captain Robert L. DuFresne, 74, of Port Orchard, Washington passed away peacefully at his home on May 23, 2017. He was born January 12, 1943 in Pomona, California to the late Anita Mills Kiesel and Joseph B. DuFresne.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Ann DuFresne, Port Orchard, Washington; daughter, Carrie Lee Serra, Show Low, Arizona; step-sons, Michael Breheny, Memphis, Tennessee; Chris Breheny, Port Orchard, Washington; six grandchildren, Nick and Kelly Serra; David, Dillon and Dustin Barnes and Michael Breheny,as well as three great grandchildren, Brianna, Cameron and Serenity. Survivors also include sisters, Dee (Reed) Buckley of Oregon; Cindy (Darrell) Richmeier of Colorado and one brother, Jeff (Gloria) DuFresne of California, as well as extended family and a host of friends. Robert was preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbitte Jean Barnes.
Robert served in the U.S. Navy for seven years. He flew as a pilot for several companies in his early years before joining Federal Express, later known as FedEx. FedEx was in its infancy when Robert came on board in 1973. Robert was hired by FedEx founder Fred Smith and was proud to wear his badge #125, remaining a dedicated and loyal employee until his retirement in 2001.
Among the activities Robert enjoyed were traveling abroad, roads trips in the motorhome, boating and he was an avid reader.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee; Seattle Cancer Care, Seattle, Washington or the Port Orchard Yacht Club, c/o Scholarship Fund, Port Orchard, Washington.
