Polly Frances Petry

Polly Frances Pickering, Reed, Petry, age 84, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2023. Polly was born on March 19, 1939 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Frank and Evangeline (Payne) Pickering. She was the middle child with a brother, Dr. Wilbur Pickering, and a sister, Rosie Reed.

After graduating from Minnehaha Academy in 1958, she met David E. Reed and they were married on October 20, 1958. Together they welcomed six children into this world. David died March 2, 1971 and Polly met and married Donald A. Petry on July , 1974. He had three children.

Polly accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and remained a devoted follower of Christ her entire life. She enjoyed reading her Bible, praying for others, spending time with family and friends, telling stories, singing hymns, and going for walks. She especially liked going up into the mountains. Polly was a loving wife and mother and an amazing grandmother.

Polly leaves behind her children; Richard (Kathie) Petry, Katherine (Armando) Sapien, Jack (Paula) Petry, Daniel (Dr. Catharine) Reed, Susan (Brian) Thomas and Steven (Laura) Petry. Also her step children; JoVonne Mathiesen, Brian (Christine) Petry, and step son-in-law Mark Ritchie. She also leaves behind 25 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, July 21, 2023 at 2:00pm at Living Hope Church, 640 Manitou Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80904.
