Paul Taylor, beloved husband, father and grandfather entered into eternal life surrounded by his family on March 3, 2012. He was born in China Grove, North Carolina on November 10, 1924, the son of Hugh and Sarah Taylor. He was the 12th of 14 children.
He was married December 19, 1953 to Annie Marcelle Greene. They welcomed six sons as they traveled the globe for Paul’s military career. Active for 25 years, Paul served tours of duty in the United States Army during World War II in Germany and the wars in Korea and Vietnam. After retiring as a master sergeant, he spent 20 years with the United States Postal Service.
Paul is predeceased by his parents, his siblings and one grandson, Jesse Taylor. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Marcelle, six sons, Steven, Michael (Susan), Gary (Liz), Mark (Tia), Terry (Laurie) and Joe. He is survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Paul also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends of many years.
Paul passed his love of golf and bowling to his sons and grandchildren. Holidays were always a special occasion as the entire family gathered at the Taylor house to celebrate. Paul often led the family in a prayer of thanks before the holiday meals.
The family is deeply thankful to Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassion and wonderful treatment of Paul during his final days. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be sent to Pikes Peak Hospice, Foundations Dept., 825 E. Pikes Peak Ave, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Wednesday, March 7 at Swan Law Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Thursday March 8 at the Chapel at Swan Law at 501 North Cascade, Colorado Springs.
