Paul R Sharp, age 82, beloved husband, dad and grandpa, passed away Sept 19, 2017 in Colorado Springs after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born in Pueblo, CO on Aug 3, 1935, the youngest child of GW and Pauline Sharp.
This old world is infinitely poorer and sadder today because Paul is gone. Heaven, however, is richer and more joyous because he is there. What a joyous reunion there must have been Tuesday morning. Besides our Lord, seeing Betty, your loving wife of 59 years, your Dad and Mom, so many other relatives and friends. Some of your last words to us was, “It will be okay”, and it is. You have changed neighborhoods, but are once again whole.
Paul grew up and attended schools in Delta, Colorado and graduated from DHS in 1953. Over the years, he worked at the Delta County Independent, and the US Postal Service in Delta and Montrose, but the role he loved the most was when he and Betty were resident managers at Dayton Place Retirement in Denver. Paul flourished in assisting the residents and building long term relationships with them, the Dayton staff and their families.
Paul’s passion was people. He and Betty shared their love of the Lord with many, touching individuals in different ways. He was active in his church, taking on many roles, from Sunday School teacher, to usher and deacon. You could always find him surrounded by several people, talking and laughing. Paul and Betty were generous in many areas including helping with financial needs of others and being supportive as good listeners.
Life was an adventure with Paul, whether it was being outdoors with family and friends or sitting around the dinner table. Not a meal went by that milk was not spilled or laughter not heard… Most weekends you could find them camping, fishing, tubing, riding motorcycles and snowmobiling with family and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Sharp, and is survived by his two daughters, Diane (FatMo), Trish (Goatie Kay), sons in-law, Mark (The Big Guy), and Don (Fur-Face). Paul had five grand children, Karamie (Squeaker Deaker), Devin (Devin LUUUKE), Kinsey (Pooh), Josiah (Mac-a-doodle), and Isaiah (Zigaboo), and seven great-grandchildren, Ayele, Eleya, Kayden, Landen, Jacob, Ollie, and Avery.
Visitation to be held Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 1-2pm with funeral service to follow at 2pm at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave. Colorado Springs, CO. 80903. Burial the following day at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
