Paul J. Roesler, M.D., 93, passed peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father on February 21, 2017 in Colorado Springs. He was born on May 12, 1923 in Hannibal, MO to Paul and Ella Mae (Fesler) Roesler. Paul graduated from Hannibal High and received his B.S. degree from the University of Missouri and his M.D. from Washington University.
Paul met his wife of 66 years, Mary Lou, in Columbia where they were both students. They were married on November 18, 1950 in Libertyville, IL. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; four children, Paul (Marie) Roesler, M.D., Robin Roesler, Sue (Tracy) Felix, and Christine (Rick) Foster; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Elouise Johnson and Kathy Houf.
Paul was a captain in the Air Force and moved his family to Colorado Springs in 1953. He was a radiologist at Penrose Hospital and in 1975 became the Chairman of Diagnostic Radiology until his retirement. Paul was also a consultant for the Olympic Training Center. Paul and Mary Lou were founding members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. An avid golfer, Paul belonged to the Broadmoor and Colorado Springs Country Club. He had a double eagle; and three holes in one, with the last one being when he was 80. In recent years he was involved with “The Mall Walkers” at the Citadel which he enjoyed immensely. Paul loved to sing and was a member of a barber shop quartet and the church choir for many years.
Services will be held Monday February 27th at 11 am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4125 Constitution Avenue.
