It is with broken hearts that we say goodbye to Patricia “Patti” Jan Layman (nee Holstegge), an example of committed love, patience, and perseverance who departed this world on January 25th, 2024 at the age of 76. Born on April 20, 1947 in Goddard, KS, Patti shared joy and love with those fortunate enough to know her.
Patti is survived by her mother, Rufina Holstegge, brother Donn Holstegge, and husband, Skip Layman. Her nurturing spirit lives on through her cherished children: Crista (Phil), Lisa, Nathan (Tessia), and Michael. Patti’s deep love extended to her adored grandchildren: Isaac, Elliott, Everett, and Ruby.
Patti loved to travel and explore the world. She treasured vacations with her loved ones, enjoying family time and relishing the joy and curiosity of her grandchildren.
She was a life-long learner. She loved learning about other cultures and places. If you went to a museum with her, you had to expect that she would thoroughly study every exhibit and read every word. She especially loved American and Native American history.
Patti had a special place in her heart for all things Germany, where she lived and raised her children for several years while stationed there.
Her other interests included bird watching - especially hummingbirds - going to the symphony, exploring nature, wildlife watching, hot air balloon festivals, and decorating her home. Patti enjoyed shopping and was always on the lookout for a good bargain.
Above all she loved and cherished her children and grandchildren. She raised them, taught them, showed them the world, and always believed in them. She valued hard work, choosing the high road, and never giving up.
A celebration of Patti's life and graveside service will take place Monday, February 5th, 2024 at 10:30am at Fort Logan National Cemetery 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd (Staging A), Denver, CO 80236.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in her honor to: One Nation Walking Together, 3150 N. Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs CO 80907.
May Patti be eternally joyful, cheering on the success and happiness of her children and grandchildren.
