Pat was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on July 27, 1941. She grew up in Bel Air, MD, the first of two children of Bob and Alice Hicks. A few years before graduating from Bel Air High School, a young man named Ed Bollack got the courage to call her for a date. Their love blossomed, and he chased her until she caught him. Ed and Pat were married at Bel Air Methodist Church on June 12, 1960, and celebrated 56 years together on June 12, 2016.
In late June of 1960 they packed up everything they owned in an old Ford and drove to Colorado, where they made their home in the Denver area. They are blessed with three children–Laura (George) Horvath, Deb (Charlie) Camacho, and John (Niki) Bollack. They also are blessed with five grandchildren, Jessica, Merilee, Christopher, Stefan and Anja–and two great-grandchildren, Caden and Conner.
Pat’s life work was mother and homemaker, with a 13 year role as Church Secretary. Someone said, “you can’t fake good kids,” and in mothering their children Pat proved that, with her love, care and example of how life should be lived.
In her church life Pat served as Vacation Bible School Director, Sunday School Superintendent, President of United Methodist Women, Lay Director of Walk to Emmaus, Stephen Minister, and Communion Steward for 12 years. Her support for husband Ed’s ministry was notable, heart-felt and worthy of praise. She was a life-long Methodist and was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs. She was also a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, and delivered Meals-On-Wheels. Well done, good and faithful servant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Alice Hicks; and brother, Tom Hicks. Left to mourn her loss and miss her greatly are husband, Ed, 3 children and spouses, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons, life-time friend and sister, Linda Bollack Craycraft, a nephew, 5 nieces, and many friends and acquaintances.
