H. Parke Davis, much loved husband, father and grandfather (Pa), passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2018, in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born in Darby, Pennsylvania, April 16, 1947, to the late Claude and Edith Davis. He had a sister, Claudia and twin brother, George; both siblings died at young ages from cystic fibrosis.
Upon graduating Sandia High School, Parke enlisted in the Marine Corps and served his country in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged, he worked at Sandia National Labs (Albuquerque) for 13 years. In 1986 a technology transfer to Kaman Sciences, where he worked for 13 years, brought him to Colorado Springs. He moved his family into their current home on Parke’s birthday in 1987. He then worked at Schlage Lock until 2008. At that point, he began his own handyman business, D&P Projects. He enjoyed the challenges and rewards of having his own business, serving and blessing people with his talents.
The thing that brought him the most joy in life was his family. He loved and served all of us, always putting us before himself. He loved and served God faithfully until the end and has been called home to walk with Jesus. He leaves behind his deeply saddened wife of 47 years, Dottye, his daughter, Barbara, son-in-law, Ryan, grandson, Jordin, and granddaughters, Peyton Parker and Breckyn. He enjoyed many friendships over his all too short lifetime through our churches, our neighbors, and his employment, and we know they will all miss him as well.
We would like especially thank our Austin family, Ed and Jackie Neidel, their daughter Jenny Atchison, her husband, Thomas and their sons, Austin and Walker for their sacrificial love and being here with us, serving us beyond measure. We appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers, cards, flowers and food. Special thanks to our neighbors, Mike and Bernice Proctor, Skip and Joni Cahn and Bonnie King for their empathy and loving kindness to each of us; and to the Hendrix family, Carl Nelson, Village 7 Presbyterian Church, Legacy Sports families, Turning Pointe Dance families, and Stars Gymnastics Families. We must also mention the dedication and compassion of those who cared for Parke during his last moments, from CSPD station 10, to the AMR team, to the staff at Penrose Hospital especially Dr. Malone, cardiologist, and his surgical team.
Memorial Service will be Monday March 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Village 7 Presbyterian Church 4040 S. Nonchalant Cir.
