He was born April 25, 1979, in Rockford IL to Donald D. Perkins Jr., and Nanci Swanson Perkins. Nick graduated from Sherrard High School and later enlisted in the United States Army as a combat medic. After three tours in Iraq, one in South Korea and one in Afghanistan. Nicolas retired as a Sergeant First Class in October of 2017.
He married Vanessa Nicksic in South Korea on January 17, 2012, and they were blessed with twins Connor Timothy, and Addison Nicole on December 13, 2012 while dual military stationed at Fort Carson, CO. Nick and Vanessa loved taking the twins to many Colorado getaways and especially enjoyed museums, zoos, and hiking up waterfalls. They enjoyed this as much as staying home and binging on comedy, horror, and crime shows and movies after long work weeks. It wasn’t uncommon for them to leave for a night and extend their hotel vacation to 4 days. Enjoying Colorado’s many glorious attractions.
Nick is survived by his wife, Vanessa and children. His grandmother Audrey, Mother Nanci, father and stepmother Donald and Mary Lou, brothers, Rob and sister-in law Kirsten, Scott Perkins and sister Tara Perkins Godden, as well as a host of loving Aunts, Uncles and cousins and friends. Also survived by Vanessa’s extensive family. Her mother, father and stepmother. Cheryl, Timothy and Charlotte, brother and sister in-law’s Daniel and Katie and their 3 sons Eli, Charlie and Adam. Sister in-laws Nicole and Alaina Nicksic. As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
