She graduated from Gary High School in Gary, WV, and married Myrl E. ("Gene") Dyer on May 29th, 1955. Gene was a career soldier in the Army. They had two children, Cynthia ("Cindy") and Randal ("Randy"). Nancy took pride in being a military spouse and homemaker. She managed the home front while Gene was overseas during the Korean and Vietnam wars, a tour of duty in Turkey. The family lived in Iowa, Germany, California, Missouri and finally settled in Colorado Springs, CO, where Gene retired from active duty at Fort Carson in 1974. After her children were grown, she worked for 16 years in the shipping offices at Target.
In the late 1970's and early 1980's, Gene and Nancy were bitten by the RV bug and became members of the rowdy Rocky Rovers RV club. They traveled caravan-style through Yellowstone National Park and Black Hills, South Dakata, among other places, and enjoyed weekends camping as a group at their home base in Nathrop, Colorado.
Nancy's other passions where arts and crafts, geneology, home decorating and gardening.
She was fun-loving, had a great sense of humor, and "Nina", as she was fondly called by her grandchildren, will be greatly missed by all of us.
Nancy is survived by her daughter; her granddaughter, Emily (Bryan) Love and two great grandchildren; her grandson, Ethan Dyer; and her step-sister, Elva Jane Clemons.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son; her former daughter-in-law of 20 years, Sherry (Jensen) Dyer; her daughter-in-law of 13 years, Cindy (Knudsen) Dyer; her parents and her sister, Geraldine Clemons.
A private service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetary in Denver, where Gene is buried.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Swan-Law.com for the Dyer family.
