Muriel was born in DeKalb Texas on October 16, 1925, to James and Jewell Caldwell. After graduating from DeKalb High School in 1942, she worked odd jobs until she attended the Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, Colorado in 1946. In 1949, she enlisted in the United States Army becoming a Recruiter. Muriel was honorably discharged in 1952. She married Edward Lawrence Hansen on March 6, 1954; they were married for 32 years until his death.
After getting married, Muriel stayed home full-time raising her family. Once the children were grown, she re-entered the work force as an Executive Secretary.
Muriel enjoyed gardening and reading. She was a world traveler, having visited numerous countries. She was also an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, 4-wheeling, river rafting, snow and water skiing. She was also actively involved in Daughters of the Nile and Easter Star. Muriel was especially proud of her work with the Shriners Hospital for Children. She was a past member of the Rolling Squares, square dance club, as well as the Pikes Peak Ski Patrol Team.
Muriel is survived by her three daughters, Laura Taylor (Jerry), Sarah Hansen (Mark Findley), and Jennifer Gordon (Steve). Six grandchildren, Clayton Taylor, Cody Taylor (Lisa), Craig Taylor, Kyle Taylor, Hannah Findley (Brian Roche), Emily Findley (Kody Stumpe). Four great-grandchildren, Albah Taylor, Atlas Roche, Maiya Villarreal, Aspen Stumpe, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, and brother.
Muriel was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother. She was so very proud of her family, and will be greatly missed.
