Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado as a 3rd Generation native at the original Glockner Penrose Hospital. She graduated class of 1974 from RAF Upper Heyford High School in England. She attended Colorado Technical University and was a licensed beautician. Her family moved several times while following her father during his Air Force career, finally returning to Colorado Springs. She was employed with Current for a short time, and then began working at Litton Data Systems where she met the love of her life, Jerry. They married in 1980. She worked in quality control in electronics for over 40 years. After a 2-year stint in California (which actually lasted 20 years) she and Jerry returned to Colorado Springs in July 2015. She then worked at Phillips Spectranetics until the spring of 2019. Micki was always a dedicated worker and enjoyed working throughout her life. In her spare time, she enjoyed being the #1 Bronco fan, shopping, getting her hair and nails done, and having Jerry decorate their home for Halloween and Christmas. She also enjoyed attending a wide variety of musical performances as well as the theater. As a dog lover, she delighted in the companionship of several Boxers and Jack Russell Terriers over the years. She passed away at her home in Colorado Springs on June 14, 2019. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
She leaves behind her husband Jerry, mother Christine Walchak, sister Karen (David) Hume, Uncles Leo and Charles Kolman, cousins, several other extended family members, and many friends. She also leaves behind special canine companions Molly and Riley, whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Walchak in 1989, her grandparents Jean and Wally Clark and Frank Walchak.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, 5-8pm at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N Cascade Ave. A Liturgical Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 W Colorado Ave. A committal service will follow at Fairview Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her father. A reception will be held following the interment at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
