Michael was born May 24, 1942 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He met the love of his life, Sandy, where they were both attending Widefield High School. They were married October 30, 1960 and had two sons, James and Jon. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1960-1968. He joined Colorado Springs Police Department in 1970 and served the community of Colorado Springs before his retirement in 1996. Upon retirement, Mike and Sandy were able to enjoy watching their grandchildren in various performances and plays. When Sandy died in 2009, Mike took over the job of picking up his youngest grandchild Jennifer from school and would take her to Sam's and Costco shopping for snacks. He was able to watch his grandchildren graduate and become successful adults, marry and have children of their own. Mike was blessed to have five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He had a special place in his heart for all of them but he had a special bond with his youngest who he proudly called "Sir Henry".
Mike leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sons James (Diane) and Jon (Sandra, his grandchildren Mark (Michelle), Ashley (John), Kristen (Hank), Sarah (Leo), and Jennifer. Also his great-grandchildren Maddie, Allie, Michael, Mackenzie Kyleigh and Henry.
We are provided with the comfort that Mike has joined his beloved Sandy and they are celebrating with their favorite little dog, Charlie, in heaven.
Mike was a private man and requested that there were no services. Donations may be made to the Humane Society of Colorado Springs, as Mike was an amazing advocate for shelter animals.
