Steve was a long time family friend of ours since the early 1950s, when he and Midge lived in a house with my parents, George and Ann. I remember many holidays, BBQs, and bridge and pinochle games where we all would share fun, food, and laughter, and challenging times as well.   As I look at the old photographs, besides the visiting grandparents, Midge and Steve were the most present people in our lives - Steve was like my surrogate uncle. 

In my fledgling adult years, Steve put a word in for me, and got me a title clerk job at the title company he managed. It was welcome opportunity and exposure to fax machines and lengthy legal descriptions, and a springboard of confidence to move me forward in life. 

The thing I remember most about Steve is he always had such a warm smile when he greeted people; and the genuine, most respectful interest in any conversation he had with others; and such patience with the young little girl I once was. I appreciate that he was a part of my life, and I will always have the highest regard for him. Anytime he comes to my mind, I'll always remember that smile.

 He was a great man, and I know he will surely be missed. My deepest sympathies to all his family.
