After a brief illness, Max went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 12, 2012. Max was born on April 11, 1917 in Tompkins Center Michigan to George C. and Audry (Frazer) Southworth. He was preceded in death by a son, William Max Southworth. Max is survived by his son, Philip G. Southworth of Colorado Springs and his daughter, Jeanne M. Ragains (Don Watkins) of Falcon, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by devoted long-time friend Sally Hubbard of Colorado Springs and her children Bobby Hubbard of Colorado Springs, Linda Hull (Robert) of Widefield, Larry Hubbard (Gail) of California, Joanne Young (Vic) of Widefield, eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Max served in the Air Force from 1942 to 1962. He came to Colorado Springs in 1953 and was stationed at Peterson AFB as an aircraft mechanic, then later retired from Civil Service in 1982. Max loved his family, music and road trips. He would take his family on long drives in and around Colorado and back to Michigan for get-togethers with the large “Michigan” family every summer as well as a trip to Europe. Max and Sally enjoyed attending the local area parades and activities in the Pikes Peak area and particularly enjoyed trips to Cripple Creek. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Rosary will be held at St. Dominic Church, 5354 S. Hwy 85/87, Security on March 21st at 6:00pm. High Mass will be held at St. Dominic Church, 5354 S. Hwy 85/87, Security on March 22nd at 10:00 am followed by graveside services at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
