Mary Eleanor Schiltz left this world at age 52 after a long battle with ovarian cancer, on Saturday, April 2, 2011. Mary was born on February 12, 1959 in San Jose, California to Alfred B. and Eugenia Hardt. She grew up in Colorado, Wyoming and California, where she graduated from Enterprise High School. She married Tom Schiltz on May 24, 1985 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mary was a loving and caring homemaker and wonderful mother of two. The family lived in Arizona, France and finally settled in Colorado Springs. Mary studied graphic arts and interior decorating. Her creative talents developed into her own graphic arts and decorating business. She enjoyed hiking, painting, skiing and decorating her home. She volunteered her time and talent to her church, Family of Christ Lutheran in Monument, Colorado. Mary had a gift for making problematic situations humorous.
Mary is survived by her mother, Eugenia Hardt; husband, Tom; children, Matthew and Holly; sisters, Sara Green, Marjorie Lyter and Rebecca Flaharty. She is preceded in death by her father, Alfred Hardt (November 2, 2004).
Memorial services will be held at 10:00am, Friday, April 8, 2011 at Family of Christ Lutheran Church, 675 E. Baptist Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made to the Family of Christ Lutheran Church Youth Ministry or to Jan and Dave Dravecky’s Endurance Program (www.endurance.org). Mary was a spiritual, humorous and loving person who will be missed by all.
