Mary was the youngest of 3 daughters to Arnold and Marie Sanche of Chicago, Illinois. Mary grew up in the city and worked at Woolworth's and her father's tile company in the summers. Soon after high school she met the love of her life, George in the spring of 1950 and married with in a few months. They started their family of 5 children over a period of 10 years. They moved to the suburb's of Hinsdale where they raised their family and resided for 25 years. Then George's career took them on the road and they traveled the country. Mary loved her travels and a good atlas! In 1976, they made their new home base in Colorado Springs to be near their adoring grandchildren.
Mary was the CEO of wife, mother, and housewife. For many years her career was in retail which led to her keeping her family and home in style. Mary loved reading, knitting, sewing, quilting and puzzling. She was passionate of her garden and looked forward to every spring and summer to grow flowers, fresh tomatoes and strawberries. She constantly weeded the berm and would point to each new bud that was about to bloom. She was an avid walker throughout her life, down to the days of just walking the perimeter of her own yard, and then hopping the back fence! Mary loved her sweets! Cookies, cupcakes, chocolate candy were just a few favorites. Her last few years she was nicknamed "The Cookie Monster!"
Mary's life passion was her family. Mary loved her family and wanted everyone to be happy together. She supported her children with advice, love, and compassion. She cherished her grandchildren and enjoyed her great grandchildren on the holidays and family visits. She had a wit about her that kept everyone smiling and attentive. She was kind to those around her and appreciative for the love and affection she deserved.
Mary was a devote Catholic. Mass was attended every Sunday followed by a family feast. She was involved in the church and on the parish board when St. Gabriel's first began. She started the welcoming committee of new parishioners and lady's events. In return her parish recognized the devotion of her faith and they continued to bring her communion and stop by to keep her company for many years at home.
Mary is now with the Lord in heaven, she will be missed and never forgotten by her beloved family.
