Mary Margaret was born June 30, 1943, in Tennessee to Marion Grier Fisher and Mary Christine Gatewood Fisher. She was the second of two children. The family was close-knit and spent much time together doing crafts, playing the piano, attending the theatre, and reading and writing poetry.
Her beloved sister, Linden, preceded her in death as did both her parents.
The family had settled in Ohio. Both her parents were physicians. Her father was the Health Commissioner of the county. Mary Margaret graduated from Oberlin High School in 1961 and graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, in 1965, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude.
After taking a secretarial course for college graduates at the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston, she started what would be a long and successful career with the Mitre Corporation in Boston, Massachusetts, and eventually transferred to the Colorado Springs site, where she remained working until her retirement at age 65.
In 1980 she married William Brummeler, also of Colorado Springs, who preceded her in death in 1994.
Mary Margaret was a member of the choir at the First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs for over 50 years. She worked with their theatre production group First Company as the first Chair, board member and house manager and became known as “stage mom.” She also sewed costumes, worked on sets, and did just about anything that needed to be done.
She loved Christmas, playing the piano, traveling, sending cards to friends, and having large gatherings at her home.
Mary Margaret was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, stepmom, and friend of many.
