A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Inurnment will follow at 2:00 PM at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
She was born in Omaha, Nebraska, August 18, 1930, the first of four children born to the late Roger and Irene Grace.
Margaret grew up in Omaha and as a teenager moved with her family to Hastings, Nebraska, where she graduated from Hastings High School. She also attended the University of Nebraska.
Margaret volunteered for over twenty years as a tax preparer for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, VITA, in the Colorado Springs area. She was an avid bridge player who enjoyed competing in local tournaments. Margaret was also talented at needlework; she knitted many afghans and sweaters for her family over the years.
She is survived by two daughters Debbie (Ted) Rigo of Conifer and Nancy (Steve) Tudor of Topeka, Kansas, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, two sisters Helen Thomas, Colorado Springs, CO, and Dorothy Friend, Hastings, NE, and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill, in 2013, her parents, daughter, Connie and brother, Herb.
Memorials may be made to the USO, an organization that Margaret supported, or a charity of the donor's choice.
