Marcus William Ganus was born on April 17, 1955 to Willie Claude Ganus and Lora Joiner Ganus in Columbus, Georgia. He attended Sherwood Elementary, Central Junior High, and Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama. His family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1971, and he graduated from Gen. William Mitchell High School in 1973.
He is survived by his mother; sisters Deborah Horner (Jim) and Nancy Hendryx (Ronn Langford), and nephews Kevin (Beth) Horner, and Nic (Emily) Horner, nieces Ashley Seymour (Andy) and Hillary Hendryx (John Barker), and Dawn Langford. He is also survived by nine grand nieces and nephews. Marc was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Marc was a comic collector, avid reader and master of trivia. He enjoyed watching TV, including Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and anything that challenged his mind. Marc passed peacefully with his beloved dog, Bear, by his side. He fought a brave and valiant fight against cancer for nine years.
At his request, his body was donated to science. A Celebration of Life was held on February 18, 2023. His ashes will be interred in the Garden of Cremation, Memorial Gardens, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
