

Lonnie passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord at the age of 96, on June 14, 2022.
He had 8 siblings: Katherine Wright, Iva Mae Martin, Dovie Avilla, Vi Corbitt, Ruby Hollers, Donald, Birdie Lee and Leon Marx. Six of his siblings preceded him in death.
He completed eighth grade and helped on the farm.
Lonnie joined the Navy September 29,1944 and received an honorable discharge November 13, 1944.
He was married to the love of his life for over 76 years on September 25, 1946, Elizabeth Frances (Fran) Marx.
He is survived by his wife Fran Marx, two daughters Sandy (Rod) Michalenko and Terri Green (Larry), two grandsons Nathan (Jenn) and Travis Gibson (Rachelle), 6 great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Travis Jr., Iosefa, Somiyah, Ian and Conner Gibson.
Lonnie moved his family to Colorado Springs in 1958 transferring from Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, TX to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, working in civil service in the sheet metal shop. He retired at the age of 50.
He loved doing projects, remodeling houses, creating Christmas presents. He always had projects going on in his workshop. He loved Christmas with family get together, along with playing cards, dominos or give me 5 with family and friends. He enjoyed practical jokes and loved visiting. Lonnie enjoyed watching westerns, Rockies baseball, Cowboys football and wrestling. He enjoyed attending his grandsons ball games and going to the flea market.
His nieces and nephews loved him and enjoyed visiting and playing games and appreciated his kind heart and dry sense of humor.
A family graveside service is planned for Friday, June 24,2022 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Gardens in Colorado Springs.
