Born on July 11th, 1968, she was a true hero of all things creative, magic, and zeal, she lived her entire life filling her time not only honing the crafts of her interests, but sharing that with those around her. Whether it was her world class baking, immaculate gardens, beautiful handmade crafts, love of all animals, or relentless fandom of her Colorado Avalanche, there wasn’t anything she loved that she didn’t have an outpouring desire to share with the world.
As versatile as her tastes and talents were, her most admirable quality was her infectious ability to spread love to those around her. This was truly put on display when she had her only child, Jonathan Downie, at the age of twenty-four. Daily home cooked meals, new adventurous experiences, and undeniable reliability, were all luxurious constants she provided. Being a mother in the most supreme of qualities, there was never an effort that she wasn’t willing to put in for her son. However, her title of mother was not limited to just her own child, as she was a deeply loved community mom to countless people within the Colorado Springs music, youth hockey, and Cheyenne Mountain scenes.
Her love of fairytales and undeniable qualities of a hopeless romantic, came to fruition with the love of her life, husband, John Curtis. Though she had landed the man of her dreams, the life they built together was far beyond dreams imaginable, even to a visionary of love like Lisa. Lisa and John were truly one another’s worlds as they stood beside each other in everything that they did, from a healthy litter of ten puppies, to successfully running each other’s two business together, including her artisanal bakery, Lisa’s Cakes, Cookies, and Pies, as well as Organically Grown Lawn Service. She helped create a home for all that radiated a warmth and love that only Lisa could provide. Together they lived their fairytale.
She was an undeniable force of love and passion, as well as a monument to everything wonderful that this world has to offer. There was no title she didn’t exceed in, and has left this world exemplifying what it means to be a daughter of Rick and Billie (Marsha) Broome, wife of John Curtis, mother of Jonathan Downie, sister of James Broome (Patricia Williams), Aunt of Fiona and Gavin, and a friend to all.
Her celebration of life will take place Sunday August 28th from 11am to 1pm at Hillside Gardens
(1006 S Institute St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903)
