Linda Marie (Hummel) Richman, beloved mother, sister, cousin, and aunt, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on November 4, 2021, in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born in La Junta, CO, July 27, 1948 and was raised there with her brother by her loving grandparents, Clarence E. Hummel and Grace (Bates) Hummel.
Linda graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1972 with a bachelor's in Medical Technology. She worked in various fields over the years but most enjoyed the twelve years she spent as a real estate agent. This career allowed her to raise her children as a single mother. She had lived in Colorado Springs since 1979.
Linda was always a great supporter of and inspiration to her kids, preferring to take family trips rather than spend money on things like new furniture, encouraging them to write books, play music, and open yoga studios.
Over the years, she helped many family members and friends, was a caregiver for her grandparents and her mother, and was known for taking in stray cats (actual cats as well as people who had nowhere else to go). She was a compassionate protector of many.
In retirement, she especially loved thrift store shopping, potting flowers for her yard, and walking her dog, Angel, as well as spending time with family.
The last month of her life, though sick in the hospital, she kept everyone laughing with her one-liners. She somehow found the capacity to be her greatest self—full of courage, devotion, love, and faith—to the very end.
