I am so Happy to be able to give my last respects to Kevin in person on Thursday on our way to Colorado Springs !! This means a Lot to me!! May you R.I.P. Kevin .. Thank you for your much dedicated years of service to our Country!!

Pam and family I'm so sorry for your loss. I had the honor of serving with kevin from the first day of basic through desert storm. He was a true friend he did so much for me not a week goes by that i haven't thought of him and the guys from C 4/37. He is a true american hero.

Well St.Patrick's Day has come and gone .. Doug has a newspaper clipping of you and him in some kind of contest or parade dressed as lephrecans !! Just a flash back and good memories !!

My husband served with CSM Griffin in Iraq and then in Afghanistan. He has shared nothing but good things about CSM Griffin, his leadership, and the way he genuinely cared for his men. The Griffin family has been - and will continue to be - in our thoughts and prayers.

CSM Griffin was an instructor of mine in ROTC at Mizzou.  He helped me rehab from serious knee surgery and impacted my life huge way.  He will be greatly missed.  RIP CSM Griffin.

Please accept my condolences for your loss. I can remember Kevin from high school. Being a very close friend of Sheila's I was fortune enough to get to know Kevin. There are no words I know that can express my feelings regarding this loss of life. Please know that you are all in my prayers and that he will be greatly missed.

I had the honor and privilage of serving with CSM Griffin during my time with the 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment. No on made me more proud to be a part of a Calvalry organization than he did. CSM Griffin was a marvelous coach, teacher and mentor. His positive attitude brought light to my day each time I saw him. I am truly blessed to have known such a fine individual and well-respected Cavalryman. My deepest condolences go out to Pam and his entire family.

I'm from Cody and Kevin and I were at the same weight in wrestling throughout high school.  I think we went head to head in every tournament in every little town for 4 straight years. We even got kicked out of the bowling alley in Riverton one year! We even had classes together at NWCC.   I didn't keep up with him after NWCC, but I'm proud (and glad) to know he not only served, but made a career out of it.  I'm an Air Force Vet I understand the personal sacrifice many service members endure while serving.  I'm proud to have known him and wish to thank him and his family for all he did and all they do.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family and I know God will bring hope and peace.

I knew Kevin from our days of running around Riverton. He was a few years younger than me, but he always seemed to fit in with our crowd. I was deeply saddened to hear of his death and I know there is a huge void that will never be filled, both for his family and his military brothers. God speed Kevin, I'm sure we will meet again. God Bless Pam and the children, and God Bless our fine men and women in uniform!

So sorry for your loss.  Kevin was a classmate of mine from 6th grade through high school.  I will always remember his wonderful smile.  To his loved ones you are in my prayers for comfort.  I thank Kevin as well as his family for his service and dedication to our country and freedom.

Pam I sent a message about Kevin wrestling for me and didn't identify myself. I am Floyd Young and coached Kevin at Northwest College. You kept Kevin focused and were such a big part of his life. As you know, he was the best. I know you and your children will miss him so much. I appreciate the part he played in my life. My memories of Kevin are wonderful and vivid.  We traveled a lot of miles on bus trips. He managed to keep us entertained.

Kevin was the embodiment of what the Army strives to create in it's NCOs.  He was so much more than that even, an amazing friend, a fabulous leader and one hell of a dancer!

What does one say about a man that embodied everything a Non Commission Officer should be. I suppose the first thing that comes to mind is the NCO Corps has sustained a loss of one of the most professional Soldiers I've ever had the privlage of serving with. I had the honor of standing before CSM Griffin during my promotion board for SSG while he led 2-1 CAV at JBLM and prior to that received mentoring from him on multiple occasions. One of the things he imparted to me that seems to be most prominent in my mind is his instruction on legacy. He pulled me to the side one day and said SSG Sinkhorn you have a responsiblility to your Soldiers to leave a legacy of outstanding leadership. You must at all cost demonstrate to them professionalism, courage, sense of duty and commitment to the mission and one another. So I say to all who had the privilage of knowing this great Leader, he lived these values, these truths and committed them to us to be passed on. As God is my wittness CSM Griffin you will live on. To his family and particularly his wife, dear lady I was there when we said our goodbys at the 2-1 CAV dinner. I have never wittnessed two people more devoted to one  one another. He spoke that night of how he fought for your hand in marriage and he absolutely beamed with pride as you stood by his side. You my lady set the example of support and devotion to her husband/Soldier. You a rock and will always be in my familiy's thoughts and prayers. Our hearts are yours. 

May the peace of God which surpasses all understanding fall upon you and your family.

God Bless CSM Griffin and his family.  CSM Griffin was a mentor and friend.  He was a great leader, but more importantly he was a great man.  My time with him at Fort Lewis in 2-1 CAV was the highlight of my professional career.  I learned more from CSM Griffin in those two years than any other individual in the Army. Jim and I would like you to know how much we are thinking of you at this time. Jim and I count it a privilege to care for our daughter, Francy's, and her husband, Scott Mueller's, children so they can be with you now. We feel called to duty in honor of Kevin. We remember him well from the many times Scott and Francy talked about him during and after the times Scott and Kevin were both in Iraq. The stories I've read about him from his "troops" have personally inspired me (Ann).

 Please allow me to share the prayer I am praying for you:

 "May God's peace [be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding, shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:7 Amplified).

A Kevin Story: I enlisted from the same town, on the same day, to the same unit as Kevin. We had never met until we were receiving our travel orders. It's funny that my first memory of Kevin is the two of us on the bus to the airport from downtown Denver. Two tough Wyoming boys sitting back to back, scared of getting mugged, stabbed, or worse.  The lady in the corner counting wallets in her bag didn't help. We had to literally run through St. Louis airport to make our connection. Thinking we would be court-martialed if we missed it. 
In basic, Kevin and I pushed and helped each other. Pam and Deb even teamed up to travel out for the family day visit. We were assigned as a “Cohort” unit which kept us together for the next four plus years. After “Desert Storm” as with all units in the Army we all received different assignments. And you lose touch. So you would think that after 20 years seeing Kevin's name in the head lines would just be another sad news story. But when you served with a guy like Kevin, the connection is never really gone. 
Pam, we know there are really no words that can comfort you in your loss. But if it's ok, we'll miss him too.

Kevin, where to begin..... You were always a light in school that could light up the building. You had a smile that was so contagious and a heart as big as the world. You could always bring me out of my shyness and make me laugh. You joined the military because you loved our country and you loved what you did. You took on the world like you took on your opponent on the wrestling Matt. You always put your heart and soul into everything you did and in school taking state wrestling and in the military you took on everything you could to make yourself and your country better. What happened to you was so wrong, but you died for our freedom and we will always be greatful. You will be missed greatly!! You leave a big hole in our hearts. I'm sure you are with Mr Thon now spending so much time reminiscing and catching up.  You are greatly missed by all of us that knew you. Rest in Peace old friend, thank you for all you did.
