Kenneth “Ken” Weber, 63, of Colorado Springs, CO., passed away on September 4, 2022. He was born on June 16, 1959 to David & Eunice Weber, and was the oldest of three children. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1977 and immediately entered the United States Marine Corps. After completing four years in Twentynine Palms, CA and receiving his Honorable Discharge, Ken returned to school where he earned two Degrees in Electrical Engineering. He would continue to work in this field for the next 22 years. He was married to Tanya Anne Weber on June 25, 1994. Together they had two children, Konrad David (26) and Kessleigh Anne Weber (19). It was always Ken’s lifelong dream to be a member of law enforcement and on April 1, 2003 he began his distinguished career with the Colorado Department of Corrections. Over his 17 1/2 year pilgrimage with CDOC, Ken was promoted quickly through the ranks from Officer, Sergeant, and finally as Lieutenant/Shift Commander for The Colorado State Penitentiary. During his service he was also a valued member of the Emergency Response Team, an Instructor for Defensive Tactics and Forced Cell Moves, he was distinguished in rifle, pistol and shotgun qualifiers, Certified in Armed Transport, received several Perfect Attendance Awards and was recognized for his exceptional service and professionalism with both the staff and the offenders.
Ken had a passion for fishing, boats, cigars, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, Baseball, Bull Dogs, traveling, but most importantly - his friends and family. He was never too busy to lend a hand when called upon.
He is survived by his wife Tanya, his son Konrad, and his daughter Kessleigh, his brother Gary (Dori), his sister Susan (Ron). And his only surviving Aunt, Lydia to whom he was very close and was known as her “Oreo Cookie”. He also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, friends and acquaintances. There was no one that Ken met that he didn’t touch their life with his kindness, humor, and infectious smile in some way. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
A celebration of life for Kenneth will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80918, followed by a reception from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Ken’s favorite color was Red. Please feel free to wear an article of red in remembrance of him.
